Amy Racanello, PHD

Advisory Board Member

Dr. Amy Racanello is a clinical neuropsychologist, who specializes in comprehensive psychiatric and neuropsychological evaluations. She completed her bachelor of science at Cornell University, where she started tutoring and founded the Pearl Learning Group. 


She went on to earn her first master’s degree and an advanced certificate in school psychology from Brooklyn College, The City University of New York (CUNY), and she earned her second master’s degree and a doctoral degree from the Educational Psychology Department at The Graduate Center, CUNY. Dr. Racanello completed her post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Columbia University Medical Center, and she was the DeHirsch-Robinson Fellow at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian (CHONY)/Columbia University Medical Center.

Through her post-doctoral fellowships, she acquired extensive training and experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for children of all ages, as well as young adults, with complex learning difficulties, overt behavioral dysregulation, and/or multiplex psychiatric presentations. In addition, through the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain at Weill Cornell Medical Center, she completed intensive training the evaluation of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and she has substantial experience conducting these highly specialized assessments.



For the last few years, in addition to her private practice work, Dr. Racanello has worked as a senior neuropsychologist and clinical manager at the Healthy Brain Network at the Child Mind Institute. When completing comprehensive evaluations through her practice, she gathers thorough background information, and she assesses cognitive function, attention and executive function, visual-spatial reasoning, fine-motor development, foundational and ancillary language, academics, including the neurocognitive underpinnings of fundamental academic development, social-emotional functioning, and psychiatric presentation; based on an intensive review of assessment results, Dr. Racanello designs multi-faceted recommendations that are uniquely tailored to each individual.

At the time of the launch of this website, Dr. Racanello had completed over one-thousand evaluations! In addition to her considerable training and experience in evaluations, Dr. Racanello is certified to teach and train parents and other professionals in the 1-2-3 Magic Discipline Program, and she is actively completing an intensive specialized training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). 


When not working with children and their families, Dr. Racanello is strongly committed to continuing to develop and fine-tune her professional skills, contributing to research and various writing projects, supporting international initiatives that provide services and resources to individuals with disabilities who reside in developing nations, and educating and training students, trainees, and novice professionals. Outside the office, Dr. Racanello is a self-proclaimed sturdy traveler, who loves taking international adventures.
